Iye Zine – Controlled Bleeding “Perversions of the Aging Savant” (2015, split)

Translation:
It happens, sometimes, that a couple of labels should combine to support the fact that both bands have decided to make a record together. And ‘the case, for example the Old Bicycle Records and Off Records (the first Swiss, the second Belgian) which, combined efforts have allowed Italians Sparkle In Grey (led by Matthew Uggeri) to share space on a disc together historians Controlled Bleeding (led by Paul Lemos). It happens then, that this work, Perversions Of The Aging Savant, is very beautiful and intriguing. You see then, that despite the times we live in, all is not yet lost.

The first half of the disc, left to American education, with the guitar, full of noise, Intro, followed by the soft hypnotize the fascinating Garage Dub (low foreground, guitars and drums to improvise).
Springtime In Brooklyn, the more delicate and dreamy, caressing with its light flavor night, contrasting, in a very strong with the harsh wall of noise Perks Pt. 1 (almost eleven minutes of sound violence), while Birdcanned Pt. 1, melting slowly in fascinating digressions guitar and bass, closes with the rapid fall of sound Birdcanned Pt. 2.
The second half of the disc, however, completely in the hands of Sparkle In Grey, holds its breath with emotional intensity of the four chapters in which is divided Idiot Savant (a long musical journey full of melancholy emotion that, always growing and breaking up Moreover, it changes shape, becoming more fully and finding, perhaps, the light at the end of the tunnel).
To close it all, finally, we think the other two pieces.
The first, Mevlano Pt. 1 of Sparkle In Grey, builds a cold desert and darkness where you can not move that groping, while the second, Live In Brooklyn, the Controlled Bleeding, a dark dream where light at times, guitar notes.

The proposed split album by Controlled Bleeding and Sparkle In Grey excites and engages in a way that we never expected. The first part, dominated by the wall of sound of Perks Pt. 1 (and accompanied by other songs), hit in the face with the force of a thousand punches; the second, more focused on the emotional component and melodic, kidnaps and fascinates from the first moment. A disc intense and not at all trivial that will not disappoint even for a second.
